The RCN Missions’ Hospital was commissioned in year 2024 with its mission of providing affordable, accessible
and high-quality healthcare, driven by love and guided by faith. The institution is devoted to delivering top-tier
services that prioritize the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of patients. The hospital is physically
located in Makurdi Benue State, however, her reach extends beyond Makurdi to the far ends of Nigeria even
reaching to distant and rural communities of the country. This is achieved through her three core programmes
which include;

DinnaCare (Women and Children Health Support Programme)
DOCcare (Dedicated Organisation for Communities Care/Community Health Interventions)
The Medical Missions Team to Benue Links Motor Park
The Medical Missions team of the RCN Medical Center, under the umbrella of the Remnant Christian Network
conducted a free medical outreach at Benue Links Motor Park Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria which held on the
13 th of May, 2025. The team consisted of three Medical Doctors, Nurses, Medical lab Technicians, Pharmacist,
and a logistic officer.
2. Activities:
Pre-visit: On the 30 th of April, 2025 a request letter was taken to Benue Links motor park secretariat for the
motor park outreach.
Visit: The outreach was done on the 13 th of May by the RCN Medical Missions Team
Post-visit. All data collected would be entered into the google form created, RCN Medical Missions team
intend to do follow up visits to the motor park

Commercial drivers, traders and officials at the Benue Links motor park, Makurdi, Benue State were the
beneficiaries of the free medical outreach
4. Aims / Goals
Providing affordable, accessible and high-quality healthcare, driven by love and guided by faith is the core
purpose of the RCN Medical Missions. The aim of the medical outreach was to provide health education, basic
and essential health checks and screening, medical consultation services, basic medical interventions,
counselling and medications for members of the community.
5. Impact assessment
a. Qualitative: During the medical crusade, Commercial drivers, traders and officials at the Benue
Links motor park they had their vital signs checked, had medical consultation, there was a
laboratory stand with equipment to provide free tests to people as required, the tests available
included; Rapid Diagnostic test (RDT) for malaria parasite, test for Hepatitis B virus (HBsAg),
test for Hepatitis C virus, blood sugar level test, widal test and RDT for HIV. All patients seen
were given the opportunity to pass through the counselling station where they had access to
spiritual and emotional care, counselling and prayers with adequate privacy ensured. Finally,
the pharmacy provided the people with free medications as prescribed.

A total of 80 patients were attended to with males being 51 in number and females 29. The age
of the participants ranged from 9 months to 64 years of age

9. Medical Missions Vital Summary Statistics
a. Number of clients seen: A total number of 80 individuals were attended to
b. Bio-demographic distribution: All patients consented to receiving the free medical checks,
consultation and free medication. The age of patients ranged from 9 months to 64 years. The
41–50 years age range had the highest number of patients (39.2%), followed by the 31-40
years age range (38%), and 51-60 years age range was 12.7%. The least represented age
group was the 0-10years and 11-20 with 1.3% each. Majority of the recipients of the medical
outreach were males (63.3%).
Vital Signs: Temperature was checked for 77 persons, majority of them (72.7%) had
temperature within the range of 35.5˚C – 36.5 ˚C, the rest of them (27.3%) had temperature
within the range of 36.6˚C – 37.5˚C. Pulse was checked for 73 persons with 90.4% having
pulse rate within the range of 60-100 b/m, 5.5% had pulse rate above 100 b/m, 4.1% had pulse
rate within range of 50-59 b/m. Blood pressure was checked for 69 persons with 50.7% having
blood pressure within the range of 90/60 – 130/90mmHg, 29% had blood pressure within the
range of 131/90 – 140/90mmHg, 10.1% had within the range of 141/90 – 150/90mmHg and
10.1% had blood pressure above 150/90mmHg.
Lab Tests: Lab tests were done based on the consulting officer’s request. For blood sugar, 31
persons had blood sugar checks with 96.8% having blood sugar levels within the range of 4.0 -
7.8mmol/L and 3.2% had blood sugar above 8.5mmol/L. For malaria tests, 2 persons were
tested, 100% were negative. 31 people were tested for Hepatitis B, 100% non-reactive. 25
people were tested for Hepatitis C, all (100%) were non-reactive, 30 people had RVS test done
96.7% was negative, and 3.3% (1 person) was positive.
c. Disease Pattern (Diagnosis): The most common diagnosis with 20.3% was Dyspepsia/PUD
followed by diagnoses of Hypertension reported in (17.7%), Myalgia was reported in (16.5%),
Malaria in (15.2%), URTI in 8.9%, Osteoarthrotis in 5.1%, Filariasis/Helminthiasis in 3.8% and
UTI in 3.8%. Other conditions diagnosed include Low back pain (2.5%), Eye conditions (2.5%),
PID (2.5%), Dermatitis (2.5%), Peripheral neuropathy (2.5%) and others. 11.4% of the people
seen had no complaints, they only wanted to check their vital signs and be screened at the lab.
d. Secondary Referrals: Out of the data collected for people attended to, 10.1% required
secondary referral
e. Medications Prescribed: The following medications were prescribed, Paracetamol 35.4%, tab
omeprazole (26.6%), tab diclofenac/cataflam (20.2%), Antimalarial tablets (16.5%), tab
ciprofloxacin (12.7%), tab albendazole (11.4%), tab amlodipine (11.4%), tab lisinopril (11.4%),
vitamin C (8.9%), hematinics (8.9%), tab amoxicillin (7.6%), tab ibuprofen (6.3%), tab vasoprin
(6.3%), tab gelusil (5.1%), tab Loratadine (3.8%), vitamin Bco (3.8%), Suspension gascol
(3.8%), tab metronidazole (2.5%), doxycycline capsules (2.5%), multivitamin (2.5%), tab
fluconazole (2.5%), Tab HCT(2.5%), Tab Azithromycin (2.5%), as well as other medications.
