RCN MEDICAL MISSIONS REPORTING Commemoration of International Day Against Drug Abuse at UBE (Suswan Thank You) Secondary School 26 June, 2025 1. Background / Team The RCN Missions’ Hospital was commissioned in 2024 with a mission to provide affordable, accessible and high-quality healthcare driven by love and guided by faith. Although located in Makurdi, Benue State, the hospital serves distant and rural communities through its three core programmes: • AromeCare (Medical Missions / Outreaches) • DinnaCare (Women and Children Health Support Programme) • DOCcare (Dedicated Organisation for Communities Care / Community Health Interventions) The Medical Missions team of RCN Medical Center conducted a school outreach at UBE (Suswan Thank You) Secondary School, Makurdi, on 26 June 2025 in commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, marked globally every 26 June. This year’s theme emphasizes investment in prevention through justice, education, healthcare and sustainable livelihoods. 2. Activities • Pre-visit: On 24 June 2025, a request letter was submitted to the school, received by the Principal, and approval was granted. • Visit: The outreach took place on 26 June 2025 by the RCN Medical Missions Team. • Post-visit: The team plans to provide additional health education and possible counselling services for the students. 3. Beneficiaries JSS1 and JSS2 students of UBE (Suswan Thank You) Secondary School. 4. Aims / Goals The outreach aimed to provide health education, counselling and care for the students, in line with RCN Medical Missions’ mandate of providing affordable and accessible healthcare driven by love and faith. 5. Impact Assessment a. Qualitative: Students received a health talk on the dangers of drug abuse. Each student also received a free biro. b.
